CLOH.Org's sub-site, 9x9 (spoken as "Nine - by - nine") aims for nine departments each with nine courses and at least nine faculity members within each department.

Milestones and Mastery

As courses, departments and faculty sizes increase, then the focus sifts from recruitment to milestones and mastery. Displaying civic engagement with a process of democracy can lead to true mastery of our community.

The Three Rivers Regional Office is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as Regional Program Coordinator. The Coordinator will assist in identifying, developing, and managing conservation service programs for urban youth; recruit and supervise high school participants and crew leaders; manage gear, tools, and other logistics for regional activities; assist with administrative duties related to regional community programming; and will support national program activity within the region and assist in regional program/partnership development.

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Education/Science or related field, 1-3 years of experience working with urban youth, valid driver's license for at least three years, experience working in and leading outdoor activities, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Wilderness First Responder preferred.

These opening plans are being put forth as a way to jump-start the process. In due time, all the organizational structure with the various departments, courses and components are to be self-directed. Voting decisions guide the operations.

Suggestions and Volunteers Welcomed

Ideas about departments, courses, structure are welcomed. Teachers, tudors and administrators can be recruited or self select and come forward.

Would you like to serve on the faculty for one of the departments? Would you like to be a professor and teach?

You could play a very important role in these efforts by being a subscriber and a voter, and never even need to come to a meeting or class.

Evaluating and Developing

Each department has a faculty so as to evaluate and develop the operations. Participants make daily class evaluations. These results, posted of course, are filtered to the faculity for future decisions. The evaluation system for programs helps to better manage the direction of the offerings. Participant play a key role in keeping the organization and its leaders viable and effective.

Catch All Titles

Most classes could fit into a couple of different departments. For example, talk on the IT Job Rebound could happen in the Jobs Department or the Technology Department or the Help Center or the Pittsburgh Department.
